Because sustainability is more than that

Our Production

We take advantage of short supply chains and synergies with local businesses.

The Tal brand is and will always be based in Switzerland. And there are at least two good reasons for this. After all, any company that wants to operate sustainably would be wise to centralize its operations—from design to production. That’s why Tal works with Swiss contract manufacturers and partners whenever possible—not least to guarantee Swiss quality and expertise and to keep its environmental footprint small.

This commitment to Swiss suppliers also serves as a statement in support of the Swiss economy. After all, the COVID-19 crisis in particular is a testament to what can be achieved through regional solidarity and innovation. The best example of this was the shortage of disinfectants. In short, Tal joined forces with a contract manufacturer, a local brewery, and a local packaging manufacturer, and whisky was transformed into urgently needed disinfectant, which was made available primarily to regional companies and hospital suppliers.

This example illustrates that living by Swiss values leads not only to success but also to greater sustainability.

Our Products

High-quality raw materials from Switzerland.

Tal uses only pure, high-quality raw materials with the targeted power of plants from Graubünden. Take, for example, the symbol of the Swiss Alps: the edelweiss. It is particularly resilient, and its active ingredients are excellent for neutralizing free radicals and protecting cells. Some of the edelweiss extracts used come from a field high above the tranquil Grisons village of Savognin.

Other plants used by Tal—such as horsetail, anise, pine needles, arnica, and marigolds—are also “Made in Switzerland.” The same goes for the mountain spring water used in the Med Line products.

The products from Tal are, above all, one thing: a powerful tribute to their homeland! The credo: as much skin-friendly nature as possible, no unnecessary additives.

Our Goals

Step by step toward a more sustainable future.

Standing still is a step backward. Tal is therefore continuously working to improve its products and seeking innovative packaging solutions. According to SwissRecycling, Swiss residents consumed 125 kilograms of plastic per person per year in 2019. Plastic waste places a heavy burden on nature and the environment. Plastics offer particular advantages for cosmetic products, especially when it comes to transportation, storage, and shelf life. And yet, it is the duty of every cosmetics company to design products that are fairer, more resource-efficient, and even more natural. This is especially true when it comes to packaging.

Tal is in constant communication with suppliers to identify and respond to the latest trends in packaging materials. For the sake of the product, for the sake of consumers, and for the sake of the environment. Take, for example, the latest hand cream from the Tal line, the Tal Nature, is made from a single-use material that is 98% recyclable.

Further improvements to packaging will follow. And extensive testing will determine whether, for example, a tube made of paper or chalk could mark the start of a shift away from the “one-way street” of plastic—while maintaining the same product quality and shelf life.
